James Franco Back On Set Of 'General Hospital'

Photo from the set shows Franco covered in blood.

Photo: ABC

There will be blood when James Franco returns to General Hospital" on September 20.

Despite Franco's earlier statements to the contrary, E! landed a photo of Franco on the set of the ABC daytime soap that proves that he will in fact be reprising the role of his appropriately named serial killer, Franco.

It looks like things don't end so well for Franco's soap alter ego, based on the smear of blood on the wall behind his head and the trickle coming out of his mouth in the photo. Or there's a chance he'll be bringing back the creepy by again playing a dead man in one of his character's art exhibits, considering that's how he was introduced to the show originally. The plot thickens!

Franco made his Port Charles debut in November 2009 as an artist/serial killer who becomes obsessed with Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), who can also be seen in the recent photo. His plot arc lasted for 41 episodes and ended last August with the killer Franco vanishing without a trace. Six months later, Franco returned and filmed three more episodes in which his character tried to bust up a pretty big wedding. Franco is going to try to do that again in the upcoming episode, according to E!.

This new appearance takes place on the eve of Jason Morgan and Samantha McCall's wedding. Franco returns to Port Charles to wreak havoc on their lives after already trying to separate them in his first plot arc.

When MTV caught up with the actor at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, Franco called his relationship with "General Hospital" an "ongoing thing."

Setting: A well-lit, carefully designed retail store with multiple counters, standing room only inside, with a few outdoor tables

Must-Haves: Cubano, DBLT, Banh Mi, Chili-Lime Gaufrettes, cheese plate
Cost: $15-20 for a two-course lunch and drink; $10 or less for breakfast

Grade:A

I?ve known Daniel Boulud and have been eating his food for more than twenty years now, and if there is one thing I?ve learned about him, it?s that he doesn?t take any undertaking lightly. In other words, the dude is insanely focused in his approach to anything he tackles. If he made Saltines they would have to be the best Saltines there are?or at the very least, the best Saltines he could make given his skill level and the skill level of those around him.

So we shouldn?t be surprised that his little pastry, coffee, and sandwich shop, Epicerie Boulud, is no casually tossed-off affair. In fact, many of the items he serves there are downright revelatory (others are merely solid) to the point that some of the sandwiches are hall-of-fame worthy. The man has a track record. He doesn?t accept pretty good as a result.

This time, with the able help of chef de cuisine Aaron Chambers, bread baker Mark Fiorentino, pastry chefs Dominique Ansel (Daniel) and Ghaya Oliviera (Bar Boulud and Boulud Sud), and master charcutier Gilles Verot, he shows he means business in the realm of sandwiches and pastries and ice cream. This is not his first foray into pastries. I?m old enough to remember that Daniel was Francois Payard?s investor and partner at the original, now shuttered Payard on Lexington Avenue. But this place is different?it?s filled with Boulud-like touches that make the food thoroughly grounded in both French technique and New York food sensibilities.

20110818-epicerie-boulud-spicy-merguez.jpg

Spicy merguez.

A ?spicy merguez? ($6.90) sausage came on a housemade roll, with harissa, preserved tomato, cucumber, tzatziki sauce, and mint; despite the name, the sandwich wasn?t particularly hot, but it was tasty. The Banh Mi ($8.90) here is not really a Banh Mi at all. Rather, it?s a Thai sausage with a big dollop of country p?t?, a slice of Parisian ham, radish and carrot slaw, and jalape?o mayo on a French roll. I love classic banh mi, but I appreciated the love and care and high quality ingredients that went into what can only be described as Boulud?s tribute to that Vietnamese hero sandwich.

The DBGB Dog ($5.90) is Verot?s tribute to a New York hot dog. It?s a housemade beef wiener (the same one that?s served at DBGB), and it comes with sauteed onions, mustard, and ketchup. It?s a perfectly fine hot dog, but it lacks the taut snappiness of a Gray?s Papaya or Papaya King dog. (I say this after tasting them side by side for dinner last week. The Gray?s Papaya hot dog was better and much cheaper to boot.)

There?s a trio of sandwiches inspired by classics Boulud has found in the States.
His DBLT ($10.50), with grilled heritage pork belly, smoked bacon and horseradish dressing on herb focaccia, is a BLT in name only?in the same vein as Boulud?s notorious DB burger, featuring foie gras and short rib. But it?s good enough that we don?t care. To call his Cubano ($10.50) an elevated version of the sandwich doesn?t begin to describe how seriously delicious it is, and I say this as a man who?s never met a Cubano he didn?t like. How could it not be great when it?s made with suckling pig confit, housemade Jambon de Paris, and a housemade pickle, all on one of Fiorentino?s ciabatta rolls?

Boulud enters the New York lobster roll derby with his Maine Lobster Roll ($16.00). His features lobster salad with a horseradish dressing, avocado, celery, butter lettuce and tomato on a brioche roll. It?s a fine lobster roll, but not a terribly interesting one. A classic French sandwich, a Jambon Beurre ($7.50) of that same housemade Parisian ham, salted butter, and Gruyere cheese on baguette, would have been splendid if it hadn?t still been cold when we started eating it. It turns out that not even Boulud is immune to the inherent shortcomings of ?grab and go? sandwiches.

The sides are the equal of the better sandwiches. Chips are a must at any sandwich shop, and here they up the chips ante with addictive housemade lime chili gaufrettes ($2.50)?that would be waffle chips to Americans?which though not spicy enough for some, are definitely in competition for the city?s best potato chips. Regular potato chips were saltier and greasier.

And the cheeses at Epicerie Boulud have been lovingly curated by Serious Eats friend and cheesemonger supreme Anne Saxelby. One day the $16 cheese and fruit plate included a selection of five terrific, perfectly ripe cheeses we loved?some local (the creamy raw cow?s milk Timberdoodle, funky raw goat?s milk Slyboro), some imported (the Persille, a sheeps? milk cheese from the Pyrenees). It?s carefully and thoughtfully served in-house, though inexplicably, they don?t give you bread with your cheese plate if you get it to go.

Egg Tartines

Egg Tartines.

Three variety of ?egg tartines? are offered, a sort of open-faced breakfast sandwich, called oeuf en brioche, made with a ?pain au lait? dough with a whole egg baked right into the dough. Our favorite was the smoked salmon ($6.50) with spinach, mornay, red onion, and capers, a classic Boulud creation marrying what he grew up in France (the mornay sauce) with quintessentially New York smoked salmon pairings (red onion and capers). We also really loved the version with house-cured ham and gruy?re ($4.50). The Florentine ($4.50), made with spinach and egg, was less interesting. All take well to a bit of toasting.

The crew at Epicerie Boulud also put out a number of grab-and-go sandwiches that put to shame anything we?ve ever tried at Pret a Manger or any similar operation. Yes, we know the sandwiches here are in some cases 50% more expensive than their counterparts at such places, but they are exponentially better.

Classic Club ($9.50)

Classic Club.

I can only wish that I had eaten a club sandwich as good as Boulud?s Classic Club ($9.50) at any country club I had ever been invited to. Boulud?s monstrous sandwich is at least three times as tall as it is wide; it?s got some awesomely juicy smoked turkey with a garlicky aioli, bacon, avocado, fried egg, lettuce and tomato on buttery brioche bread slices.

They also tackle and re-engineer the Provencal classic Pain Bagnat ($9.50). Here it consists of layers of moist confit tuna, heirloom tomato, sliced cucumbers, olives, avocado, and some more of that perfectly cooked egg on an awesome crisp bun. The only thing we could have done without is the lettuce, which was superfluous and wilted by the time we got the sandwich. (Ah, the vagaries of pre-made sandwiches.) We haven?t fully explored the grab-and-go salad offerings, but even the cliched Cobb salad ($12) had moist cubes of rotisseried chicken, plenty of great blue cheese, ripe tomatoes, and lardons (though not quite enough of those).

View more in the slideshow above ?

Highlights of the dessert menu include the gelati, the chocolate caramel layer cake, and the coffee hazelnut tart?but there are so many sweets worth exploring at Epicerie Boulud that we?ll get to those tomorrow.

With Epicerie Boulud, Daniel Boulud and his crew have raised the bar for sandwich-pastry shops in New York. It?s a genre that was already improved by Thomas Keller?s Bouchon Bakery, a mere long baguette?s length away in the Time-Warner Building?but the sheer breadth, depth and astoundingly consistent quality of the offerings at Epicerie Boulud will make it the envy of Keller and every other world-class chef who attempts to scale the sandwich shop-bakery mountain.

The rest of us don?t have to worry about that competition. We just get to enjoy the fruits of Boulud and company?s labors, a sight to behold and a pleasure to taste.

California beats Japan 2-1 to take LLWS (AP)

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. ? An American flag draped around his shoulders, Braydon Salzman couldn't contain his glee when he found California teammate Nick Pratto to give him a postgame hug.

The boys from Huntington Beach are headed home with a Little League World Series championship.

Pratto singled in the winning run with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of sixth inning, and Salzman pitched a complete-game three-hitter in a 2-1 victory Sunday over Hamamatsu City, Japan, and the tournament title.

"USA! USA," yelled fans before Pratto's single.

"I was just thinking. 'Oh God, Oh God,' Before I was getting in the box," the 12-year-old Pratto said. "But once I got into the box, I calmed myself by telling myself to just look for a good pitch."

Pratto's clutch hit returned the World Series title to the United States with the type of victory even the big leaguers dream about. A U.S. team has now won six out of the last seven World Series, with Japan's win last year the exception.

Pratto tossed his helmet into the air after rounding first before his teammates mobbed him in the infield. The teams exchanged handshakes at the plate before California's giddy players posed at the mound with their new championship banner.

"My team is physically smaller than most of the teams. We didn't think we would get to this stage," Japan manager Akihiro Suzuki, who fought back tears after the game, said through interpreter Kotaro Omori. "All of the players did such a wonderful job to get to this stage."

With runners on first and second, an error by Japan shortstop Gaishi Iguchi on what could have been an inning-ending double play loaded the bases for California. After a force play at the plate, Pratto smacked a solid liner to center off reliever Kazuto Takakura that brought pinch-runner Eric Anderson home with the winning run.

Pratto did his father, manager Jeff Pratto, proud. Nick Pratto said it was great to have his father as his coach, "but he kind of gets on my nerves sometimes."

It was a fitting end to a tense game marked by excellent pitching and timely defense.

Japan starter Shoto Totsuka struck out five over 4 1-3 innings, giving up a homer to right to California slugger Hagen Danner.

First pitch was delayed more than three hours after the outer bands of Hurricane Irene brought more rain than expected to the Williamsport area.

"The result was bad, but they really tried their best," Suzuki said. "Today's weather was difficult for us to get used too. If the weather was like this in Japan, we wouldn't have played."

The clouds finally started parting midway through the game, and sunshine draped the complex by the time the California players left the stadium to cheers by friends and family.

Neither team could convert on several chances to break open the pitcher's duel earlier in the game.

With runners on first and second in the top of the sixth, third baseman Dylan Palmer blocked the bag from sliding Japan runner Ken Igeta on a bunt play to help get California get out the inning.

California put runners on first and second with two outs in the fifth, but Takakura got a flyout to end the inning.

Playing right field in the second, Takakura also made a running catch on fly down the line to save an extra-base hit with a runner on second.

It was Japan running all over the place in the third, flashing trademark hustle to scratch out the game's first run after Seiya Fujita's solid single to left. Pinch-runner Kaito Suzuki moved to second on a bunt and raced toward third with no one covering. The throw bounced into foul territory, allowing Suzuki to score easily.

In a gracious postgame gesture, Japan's players and coaches lined up and exchanged high-fives with the California kids after Huntington Beach did the traditional victory lap around the stadium warning track.

"It's just a dream come true," Danner said. "I never thought we would be in that spot, let alone winning it."

Samsung unveils 3 smartphones to run on own platform (Reuters)

SEOUL (Reuters) ? Samsung Electronics unveiled three smartphone models that run on its own operating system, as it seeks to expand market share in the low-end segment and diversify its lineups heavily focused on Google's Android software.

The Wave series models backed by Samsung's proprietary system "bada" reflects the South Korean firm's shift in strategy from being a pure hardware manufacturer to become more software-focused.

It is also aimed at pulling together Samsung's different products of smartphones, televisions, printers and computers under its own software platform and online application store Samsung Apps.

Samsung on Tuesday unveiled Wave 3 with a 4-inch AMOLED screen and a 5 megapixel camera, as well as cheaper Wave M and Wave Y. The Wave M will have Samsung's first instant messaging tool chatON installed and entry-level Wave Y with 3.2-inch display will go on sale in October.

The three models add to 7 Wave series lineups Samsung introduced since first bada-based product went on sale in May 2010.

Samsung, whose flagship Android-based Galaxy S models helped it become the world's No.2 smartphone maker in the second quarter, is now focusing on emerging markets with cheaper phones costing $200 or below.

Last week Samsung unveiled four new mid-to-low end models running on Android to defend its market share, as Apple, which has long stuck to the higher end of a booming mobile device arena, is set to launch a lower-cost version of the iPhone 4 soon.

The Wave series will allow access to Samsung Apps, which has around 13,000 applications.

The number is dwarfed by more than 100,000 applications available in Android market and over 300,000 apps from Apple's App Store.

How To Create A Blogging Internet Business

by Guest on August 29, 2011

Simply stated the only difference between a blog and a website is a blog has frequently updated content in the form of posts or articles. Blogs have become one of the most prevalent ways for a sole person to make money online. The major blogging platforms blogger.com and wordpress.com let users create a blog, host the blog, and earn from the blog absolutely free. Anyone can go to either of these websites and have a business up and going within hours. To become successful with a blog you must write well and write frequently. It is also important that you begin learning internet marketing. This is what will separate you from the rest of the blogs in your niche. Marketing a blog is quite similar to marketing a static website the only difference is when marketing a blog you should focus more on the social aspects of marketing such as networking and bookmarking. You will also find that marketing techniques such as guest posting will be much more beneficial to blog marketing compared to website marketing.

To begin your blogging business you will need to pick a topic. The most important thing to think about when trying to choose a topic for your blog is how much interest you have. The hardest part about blogging is writing about the same topic every single day. If you truly love what you write about it will be much easier to product content regularly. Once you have the topic chosen for your first blog I recommend using free services such as blogger or wordpress. The reason for this is even if you have the highest ambition most online businesses including blogs fail. Do not dump a bunch of money into hosting, a domain, and other services to end up with less money then when you started. It is possible to start an online blogging business without spending any money and start making real money.

For a successful blog you need to write content each day on your topic. This will be one of the most difficult parts of your blogging business, but will give you plenty of material to market. When trying to think of ideas for posts you should visit forums that are relevant to your niche. Here you can find the latest news and what people are wanting to know in your niche. It is also important to check out the blogs in your niche. Do not steal the posts, but write about the same topics making sure to use your own words and thoughts. One of the best parts of blogging is you will have plenty of content to market. The two ways you should market your content include social bookmarking and article marketing. Submit your blog posts as soon as you publish them on your blog to the major social bookmarking websites. Once the posts are indexed in Google you can begin submitting them to the major article directories which will help build links towards your blog ranking it better in the major search engines.

Personal Training Exercises Guidelines for Home Fitness Routines ...

People's busy schedules combined with an ever-growing need for fitness have paved the way for innovative training methods. In-house personal training is one such means; with in-house personal training the trainer comes to you, training you in your home or office.
The Help of a Trainer
Working one on one with a personal trainer can help to provide you with a more comprehensive workout than you may be able to do on your own. Trainers are generally educated on multiple methods and techniques and are therefore able to determine the best course of action in order for you to reach your weight loss, fitness or athletic goals. Additionally, trainers are able to keep you on track and motivated, especially when engaged in tricky exercises or trying to push through a difficult, and sometimes stubborn, plateau. Trainers can mix up your workouts so that you do not experience boredom and allow you to be constantly stimulated and inspired.
Convenience
One of the top benefits of utilizing in-house personal training is the convenience that it offers. The trainer comes to your house to work out. If you work at home or are at home during the day taking care of a child, this arrangement can save you a good deal of time, and maybe even make it possible for you to fit a workout in. Usually the trainer will bring all of the necessary equipment, such as stability balls, dumbbells, resistance bands and jump ropes. Large spaces and home cardio exercise machines are not needed; an experienced trainer should be able to get you moving, sweating, burning calories and building muscles through innovative ways that do not include traditional gym machines or equipment.
Privacy
Privacy is another bonus for having a trainer come to your house. Some people do not like working out in gyms or socializing with other gym members. Working out at home offers you a way to get fit and reach your body goals in your own personal setting.
Corporate In-House Trainer
These days many corporations and companies hire in-house personal trainers to work on site, which allows employees the ability to fit a workout in during their break or lunch hour. Healthier employees can lead to an increase in productivity, and having trainers on site makes it possible for busy workers to fit a workout in and relieve work stress in the process. As with a home session, a formal gym is not required; a comfortable designated space with adequate room and ventilation will suffice.

Five Reasons to Love Vampire Bats

They have a scary name and they're not to be taken lightly. But vampire bats pose a small risk to people, and an infinitesimal one to Americans?rabid dogs and other kinds of bats are much more of a rabies threat. Admired from afar, they're some of the most amazing creatures on the planet, and they could even hold secrets to new drugs and treatments for humans. By Douglas Main

1 of 6

Last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that a 19-year-old man died of rabies he had contracted from a vampire bat, making it the first documented case of rabies from this animal in the U.S. Actually, the migrant worker was bitten in his native Mexico, about 10 days before traveling to a sugar cane plantation in Louisiana to work, according to a CDC investigation following his death on August 21, 2010.

Subsequent news reports suggested that vampire bats are moving into the U.S. and constitute a significant threat to people. In fact, neither statement is true. And while vampire bats aren't to be taken lightly, there are plenty of reasons to admire them, including complex social networks, deadly hunting skills and naturally producing chemicals that could become valuable human drugs. Cash Investing 101 | Penny stocks for dummies

So you have managed your money wisely and have some cash reserves at your disposable. Your desire is to ?grow? these reserves by investing. I commend you for both! Yet, you have never invested your money in the past and are not sure where and how to get started. Well, relax and take a deep breath, because it is not that difficult to quickly determine the ?where? to start. 401k?s and IRA?s are perfect investment accounts that provide the beginning investor a simple, low risk opportunity to start investing and take advantage of a great cash management technique. And one of the places you can start immediately, may be available to you at the place you go everyday, your workplace.

A 401k is a company/employer sponsored retirement plan that will allow you to deduct a portion of your paycheck each month and put it towards your retirement. This money earns interest and is tax free. That is one of the ways that a 401k allows you to grow your money. Here is the other: many companies will match or contribute a portion of the amount you put in your 401k. This is free money that you will also be earning interest on. How are you able to earn interest on this money? Companies like the one you work for, that participate in 401k programs outsource the maintenance of your account to mutual fund companies, financial services corporations, and banks. These companies will in turn invest your money in stocks, bonds, and other money market instruments.

Once established, a 401k is yours to keep until you retire at age 65. If you leave the company where you set up the 401k, you have a couple of options. One, you can withdraw the money and close the account which would involve early withdrawal and tax penalties. Or two, you could transfer, or ?rollover?, the account to an IRA.

An IRA is an individual retirement account that you can set up separate from the company you work for. It can be started on it?s own, separate or concurrent with a company sponsored 401k. There are two types of IRA?s you can invest in-Traditional or Roth. What is the difference? A traditional IRA allows you to contribute pre-tax income. This means any money you contribute will not count as income on your tax return. You will have to pay taxes on the money you withdraw once retirement rolls around. A Roth IRA works in a directly opposite manner. Money you contribute to this plan will count as income on your tax return but can be withdrawn and received tax-free when you retire. To set up an IRA you simply need to contact a financial adviser in the field of investments. He or she can help you set up either a Traditional IRA or Roth IRA and further explain which plan would be right for you.

Congratulations! If you start a 401k or IRA you have employed one of the best cash management techniques available to you. Pat your self on the back for not only saving enough money to invest but for also taking free cash advice.
