The royals are hunkering down. A major storm, nicknamed St. Jude after the patron saint of lost causes, wreaked havoc upon Great Britain, the Netherlands and parts of France on Monday, Oct. 28, and a source tells Us Weekly that Kate Middleton and Prince William were also affected. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, both 31, stayed indoors at Kensington Palace, presumably with their 3-month-old son Prince George, as gusts up to 99 miles per hour hit some parts of England.

The source tells Us that the storm ripped off tree branches in the adjoining Kensington Gardens early Monday morning and left behind much debris. The weather became so severe that the public park was closed as a safety precaution, but reopened at around 2:00 p.m. GMT on Monday.

The high winds also caused damage to Buckingham Palace. The insider tells Us that a number of roof tiles were lost and two windows were broken. Queen Elizabeth II was reportedly not on the premises at the time.
According to The Weather Channel, St. Jude storm is one of the worst storms to hit Great Britain in years, with four deaths already reported. UK Power Networks officials also reported that up to 270,000 homes were without power.
